The Library Of Unfinished Books

Nevan has spent more than a century looking after books that were never finished.
By now, he knows the library better than anywhere else. He spends his days repairing old bindings and taking care of stories whose authors never returned to them. He talks to the books while he works. Sometimes a page moves after something he says, and Nevan is no longer entirely sure whether that is a coincidence.
He has learned to live with the uncertainty.

Then he wakes one night to the sound of whispering.
The voice leads him to a book he remembers reading. Its story was left unfinished years ago, and until now, Nevan never had a reason to consider it different from any of the others in his care. Tonight, it is different.

Before Nevan can understand what is happening, the book pulls him through its pages.
The world he finds on the other side is familiar enough to recognize, but it is not the story he remembers. Life continued after the final written page. The people who once existed only as characters to him have changed since the last words were written about them, and Nevan quickly realizes how little of them ever made it onto the page.

Getting back to the library would be difficult enough if he knew how he got here.
But first, he has to understand why this particular story called him at all. And maybe while figuring that out he will get to know himself a bit better as well.
