October online book club pick: Magic Undone
This month’s selection is Magic Undone!
October is here, and a month of magic deserves a book filled with dangerous spells. Moreover, it features impossible choices and a heist that could change an entire kingdom.
This month, the October online book club reads Magic Undone by S. L. Byers. It is the first book in the Magic Undone Trilogy.
With high fantasy, Black love, and a strong female lead, it excites many readers. Additionally, it blends slow burn yearning, forbidden romance, and an action packed quest. This romantasy appeals to readers who love complicated loyalties and characters torn between hearts and protectors.
Shai’s was made to unravel it. Shai’s was made to unravel it.
What Is Magic Undone About?
Shai possesses a rare and dangerous ability: she can unravel magic.
After being exiled from her kingdom, that power becomes the key to survival for Shai and her mother. With nowhere else to turn, Shai joins The Cliq, a ruthless gang of thieves operating in the criminal underworld.
But when a heist goes wrong, she is captured and thrown into the palace dungeon. Waiting for her there is Prince Jistan, the childhood friend she never expected to see again.
Instead of punishing her, Jistan asks for her help.
He needs Shai to join him on a heist in a rival kingdom, where they plan to steal a mystical treasure chest powerful enough to end the strife consuming their country. Together, they assemble a crew and set out on a dangerous quest.
Then The Cliq discovers their plan.
Their leader demands that Shai hand over the chest, threatening her mother’s life if she refuses. Now Shai must choose between protecting her only family and betraying the prince she still has feelings for.
As the chest’s true power is revealed, Shai and Jistan realise trusting either side could plunge their world into chaos.
However, keeping it for themselves may be the only way to stop that, and it could cost them everything.
