Bound by Contract. Challenged by Fate

The tension snapped when another voice cut through - calm, firm, unyielding.
"What is going on here?"
All eyes turned. Dr. Nancy Park stood in the corridor, her presence commanding.
"Dr. Park," Dr. Min said, relieved. "They want to take the patient home."
Taewon's voice was cold steel. "I want my brother now."
Nancy crossed her arms. "You can take him after two days."
"I said now."
"And I said no."
The corridor fell into silence.
Taewon's eyes narrowed, his aura suffocating. "I am the leader of the mafia."
Nancy's gaze didn't flinch. Her voice was steady, fearless.
"I don't care who you are."
Gasps rippled through the corridor. No one spoke to Kim Taewon like that.
Nancy stepped closer, her tone unwavering. "I am responsible for that patient. Without my permission, nobody is taking him anywhere. Understood?"
For the first time in years, someone had spoken to Kim Taewon without fear.
And it irritated him.

Slowly, she turned.
Her eyes widened in surprise. Standing behind her was Jay, holding a birthday cake in one hand and colorful balloons in the other.
A bright smile spread across Nancy's face.
"Happy Birthday to my princess," Jay said softly. "Did you really think I would forget your birthday?"
Nancy laughed, relief washing over her. "You scared me."
Jay placed the cake on a nearby table and tied the balloons to a chair. Then he wrapped his arms around her from behind, resting his chin gently on her shoulder.
"I'm sorry," Nancy whispered. "I thought you forgot."
"Oh, really?" Jay teased. "I think my princess forgot how much I love her."
Nancy smiled, her voice tender. "You know how busy work has been."
Jay kissed her forehead.
